What Are Facial Enzymes?

What Are Facial Enzymes?

Facial enzymes refer to a type of skincare product or treatment that utilizes specific enzymes to promote exfoliation and improve the overall appearance of the skin. These enzymes can be derived from various sources, including fruits, certain bacteria, and fungi.

When applied to the skin, facial enzymes work to break down and remove dead skin cells, helping to unclog pores and promote cell turnover. This process can lead to smoother, brighter, and more even-toned skin. Facial enzymes are often considered a more gentle option for exfoliation compared to physical exfoliants or chemical peels, making them more suitable for individuals with sensitive skin.

Facial enzyme treatments are available in various forms, including masks, peels, and cleansers. They are often used in professional spa treatments as well as part of at-home skincare regimens.

Sugar Sugar has two professional enzymes used in our facial treatments: Papaya Pineapple and Pumpkin Pure.

The Papaya Pineapple enzyme works well to reduce clogged pores, ingrown hair, and acne while also having antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. This enzyme can be an add on to our Diamonds & Chocolate microdermabrasion facial for extra exfoliation.

The Pumpkin enzyme packs a good punch with naturally occuring vitamin A and salicylic acid. This enzyme is great at reducing acne and exfoliating the skin. Glycolic acids speeds up cell turnover and maple helps prevent dryness. This enzyme can have a strong tingling effect, estheticians should check in with their clients while using this enzyme.
