I was recently asked what it's like being a guy in the beauty sector. It seems like quite a departure for a “guy's guy” to work and own within the sugar waxing business. For me it was all about listening and learning. It was an opportunity to change our family's lives so it was a fairly easy decision. Most people don't do the thing they envision themselves doing when they were seven. There's only so many baseball players and firemen in this world (haha).

I hardly see myself as groundbreaking. I think about all of the women, wives, mothers who work in a family business sports bar. Or helped their partners by doing the taxes, payroll, whatever. Building the nation's first organic sugaring franchise has been an insane challenge. But the analogy is there. 

Nice thing for me is I've been able to take a lot I did for my career (Ad Agency) into Sugar Sugar™. I think in any market; people should be find those things they work best at and double down on those. I love the digital creative side. This has tied in nicely into what we do. And it affords me an opportunity to shine at what I love. We don't all get to do ONLY that thing we were best at. That's the same challenge anyone has with a career. But I continue to look at it as a challenge. No matter what I do, or how successful I might be, I will always be a student first.

I love what I do each day and build with a business. I am able to be my own boss. I can't imagine anything more rewarding.
